Exterior painting
Professionally Prepped & Applied
Foshay Contracting provides professional exterior painting services to homeowners, investors and commercial properties in Eugene, Springfield, Junction City, Creswell, Veneta, Pleasant Hill and the surrounding areas. We pressure wash, scrape thoroughly, repair, and prime before we paint, and as a licensed general contractor we fix wood rot and failing siding instead of coating over it. Our weather is hard on exterior paint, so we confirm the siding and window trims are dry before we start, and treat moss build up, mold and mildew at the source. A full exterior repaint timeline depends on the size of the home or business, how much prep and repair it needs, and the weather. You get a free, itemized estimate before we start. What we do
Exterior Painting That’s Applied To Last
Pressure Washing & Surface Prep
Prep decides whether an exterior job lasts or peels. We pressure wash the whole exterior to strip dirt, chalking, and mildew, then scrape loose paint, sand rough and bare spots, and caulk gaps around windows, doors, and trim joints where water gets in. Bare wood, repairs, and any dry rot we cut out get spot-primed before the first coat. We also confirm the siding is dry before we paint, because siding in the local area holds moisture long after it looks dry, and painting over damp material is the top cause of early peeling.
Dry Rot Inspection Before Paint
We repair dry rot and failing siding before we paint, not over it. As a licensed general contractor, we cut out and replace damaged materials, re-fasten loose siding and trim, and rebuild the surfaces to ensure long lasting durability. Painting over soft or rotted wood seals moisture in and fails fast. Fixing it first is what makes the finish hold and protects the structure underneath.
Full Exterior Repaint
We repaint siding, trim, fascia, soffits, eaves, doors, and other exterior surfaces with coatings selected for Western Oregon weather. Proper prep, repairs, caulking, and priming come first so the finish bonds correctly and holds up through rain, moisture, and seasonal temperature changes. We apply durable exterior paint systems designed to protect the home from weathering while giving the entire exterior a clean, consistent finish that lasts.
Siding, Trim, Fascia & Soffits
We paint all exterior surfaces: siding, trim, fascia, soffits, eaves, doors, and garage doors. Fascia, soffits, and trim take the brunt of the weather and fail first, so they get extra attention on prep and sealing. We use quality acrylic exterior coatings suited to the westerm Oregon climate, in a low or satin sheen that resists mildew and holds color through repeated wet and dry cycles.
Deck & Fence Sealing and Staining
We clean, prep, and stain or seal decks and fences to protect materials from rain and UV. Bare and weathered wood soaks up moisture and can diminish quickly in the local area, so sealing it extends the life of the wood and keeps it from rotting. We match the product to the wood and how exposed it is.
Moss & Mildew Treatment
North-facing and shaded walls in our local climate grow moss, mildew, and algae, and we treat it instead of painting over it. We kill the growth, clean it off, and address the moisture keeping it there, then use mildew-resistant coatings on outdoor materials that stay damp. Left alone, moss traps water against the siding and pushes fresh paint off from underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions About Exterior Painting
How often should I repaint the exterior of my home?
Many homes need exterior repainting about every 7 to 10 years, but the actual timeline depends on the siding material, previous paint quality, sun exposure, moisture, maintenance, and weather conditions. Homes with significant exposure to rain or direct sunlight may need attention sooner.
What is the best time of year to paint a house in Eugene or Springfield?
Exterior painting is best scheduled when surfaces are dry and temperatures and humidity are within the paint manufacturer’s recommended range. In Western Oregon, contractors have to plan carefully around rain, cool temperatures, and moisture because those conditions can affect drying and adhesion.
What preparation should be done before exterior painting?
Proper preparation may include washing the exterior, scraping loose or peeling paint, sanding rough areas, caulking gaps, repairing damaged siding or trim, priming bare or repaired surfaces, and protecting windows, landscaping, roofing, and other areas that are not being painted. Preparation is one of the most important factors in how long the finished paint job lasts.
How much does it cost to paint the exterior of a house in Eugene or Springfield, Oregon?
Exterior painting cost depends on the size and height of the home, siding material, condition of the existing paint, amount of prep work, number of colors, trim detail, and whether repairs are needed before painting. Homes with peeling paint, damaged siding, or dry rot usually require more preparation. An on-site estimate is the best way to get accurate pricing.
Why is the paint on my house peeling, cracking, or bubbling?
Peeling, cracking, or bubbling can be caused by moisture, poor surface preparation, aging coatings, painting over a contaminated or damp surface, or applying paint under unsuitable weather conditions. The cause should be identified before repainting so the same problem does not return.
Should damaged siding or dry rot be repaired before painting?
Yes. Painting over deteriorated siding, soft wood, or dry rot will not correct the underlying problem. Damaged materials should be repaired or replaced first so the new coating is applied to a sound, dry surface.
What if my home was built before 1978?
Homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint. When painted surfaces are disturbed during scraping, sanding, repair, or other renovation work, federal lead-safe requirements may apply. Contractors performing covered work must follow EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting requirements.
